Chapter 3 Full Time Night Shift
He won?
Cheng Guo was stunned. The word Glory
shining on the screen only meant one thing. Victory. K.O.
Just how long was I gone? 40 seconds?
50 seconds? Cheng Guo looked at her watch. It was definitely no more than 1
minute. The results? The opponent that
she lost 52 consecutive times was won by him in less than a minute?
Cheng Guo even forgot to take back
the account. She was hoping to see this man fight another round only to see
that man exit the game. He stretched and looked as if he was not interested in
the PC and was looking around and saw Cheng Guo looking at him. He quickly
explained himself: “You did not quit the game and when I sat down the match
already started so I helped you win, so no worries!
“How long did it take?”asked Cheng
Guo.
“About 40 seconds or so”Ye Qiu
replied.
Cheng Guo dropped her jaws at that
speed but the other party said with reluctance: “ my hands are frozen, if not
30 seconds would have been enough.”
30 seconds…. 30 to defeat the one she
lost 52 consecutive times. Who is this person?
Could it be Jia Shi’s professional
player? Cheng Guo suddenly thought. She knew Jia Shi clubhouse was in the

Ye Qiu! Just thinking about the name

“Ye Xiu.” The lady replied.
“Ye Xiu… Ye Qiu? I was right! Cheng
Guo was truly excited. As if he was running a pun with his name just to hide
his name. This goes to show that he really is Ye Qiu. if he actually wrote Ye
Qiu I would not have believed it instead.
“hehehehe….” Cheng Guo was giving a
sinister laugh, she was already getting ready finding something for him to
sign. Ye Qiu’s signature! Who has! No one!
While thinking so, the lady at the
counter added on: he forget his ID card and left it here.
“ID? Let me see.” Cheng Guo took the
ID and looked. It wrote Ye Xiu and that made her disappointed and was very
tempted to change the word Xiu to Qiu
After knowing that this person was
not the person that she idolized, she was still very tempted to see the
strength of this person. The interest however had died down many notches. Cheng
Guo moodily went back to C zone number 47 and handed back Ye Xiu’s ID to him
“You forgot your ID”
“Ah, Thanks. You are from the café
right?
“Yea, I am the boss.”
“Oh? Boss? Then that is great. I saw
that your café is looking of a steward right?” asked Ye Xiu.
“Ah… Yes…” Cheng Guo did not expect
this person to suddenly say this. She wanted to find a reason to have a one on
one with him and now she has an excuse to do so.
“I looked at it and I meet the
requirements. I am fine with the job and pay so how is it? Think about it
boss.” Said Ye Xiu.

Glory.” Said Cheng Guo.

saying it as “very generous” is just down playing it.
“Going to play in the new district?
Cheng Guo asked.
“New district?” Ye Xiu was startled
and looking at date he understood.
Tomorrow would be Glory’s 10 year
anniversary. Ever since the 2nd anniversary, at midnight a new
district will be release and the 10th edition account card had been
on sale since 3 months ago. Those playing in the older district that finds that
things are not going too well and those newcomers are all awaiting to go to the
new district in high anticipation.
With the opening of Glory’s tenth
district, thinking of A Leaf of Autumn who was from the first district, going
into the ‘God’s realm’ with the arrival of the fifth district with the many
skilled player, completing the technical challenge and being the first batch of
accounts and players to reaching the public map of ‘God’s realm’
Now that A Leaf of Autumn belong to
someone else, Ye Xiu’s Professional League’s life has come to an end. However, coinciding with the annual district
opening, Ye Xi’s heart trembled. The thing that have happened over the past 10
years flooded his mind.
“New district eh?” Ye Xiu mumbled to
himself.
“I recall that before the release of
a district one can change district right? Ye Xiu suddenly asked Cheng Guo.
“Only if it is a level 1 new
account.” Said Cheng Guo.
“Then let me try.” Ye Xiu said and
took out an account card and accessed the district transfer page. Cheng Guo
looked at the card and asked in surprise: “That is a 1st edition
account card right?”
“Yes it is.” Ye Xiu smiled. Every
year Glory changes the design of the account card and 1st edition
card meant it is almost 10 years already.
Cheng Guo look at Ye Xiu in
astonishment: “How long have you been playing glory?” the card is a dead object
and the person is not the card may be 10 years old but the player may not have
played for 10 years.
“Almost 10 years already.” Ye Xiu
replied proving he is one with the card.
Tl note: Bad pun
but that is the literal translation and I am keeping it that way. It says 人卡合一 meaning man and card as one.
A player who played for 5 years like
Cheng Guo would be considered to be an old player and unexpectedly this guy in
front of her has been playing one time longer than her. Ten years, that would
be Glory’s first batch of players, being able to play all the way until now and
still having interest in going to the new district, just what kind of spirt is
that?
While speaking, the screen already
showed “transfer completed”
“Done.” Ye Xiu took back the account
card, held the card in his hand and was back in a daze recounting the history
and meaning held in this 1st edition account card.
“You said you wanted to be a steward
right?” Cheng Guo who was at the side suddenly asked of this matter.

“Which shift you looking at?” Cheng

“Night shift.” Ye Xiu said.

surprised. Night shift starts at 11m to morning 7am. It is more than the other
shifts by 500 dollars and not many people applied. After all, not many are
happy with being up late into the night. And as of right now everyone is
rotating into this night shift and if someone did apply for this night shift
full-time then everyone would be finally be freed of it.
“I can I can. I love working at
night.” Ye Xiu replied.
Cheng Guo observed this person in
front of her. The unkempt hair and beard that seems to be unattended for at
least half a month, face slightly plum, though white it is the sickly white.
Those eyes that were looking at her were lack lustre. She had seem many who are
like that. Those who stay up overnight tend to look like that and this guy did
not look young. To have someone willing
to be the night owl Cheng Guo was happy.
She was curious as to this old-timer
of 10 years’ ability and immediately passed judgement: “Ok. Then u are hired.”
“Thanks boss”
“You saw the terms of employment, we
will stick to that.” Cheng Guo said
“No problems.”
“Then come with me!” Cheng Guo was
straight forward. After hiring him, she immediately got him to work. She got
him to bring the new keyboards that arrived just today to the 2nd
floor storeroom
Cheng Guo’s internet café is named
“Xing Xin Internet Clubhouse” it is considered to be one of the more classy
cafés as it had two floors, PCs numbering to thousands. The second floor was
smaller but of higher class. It is a world of its own. It hid a 2 room 1 living
room housing. The storage room is in this housing. Ye Xiu busied himself
carrying the keyboards observing this room. The recruitment note stated of food
and accommodation. Ye Xiu just left the clubhouse and had not thought about his
next step. It was because food and accommodation were covered in the terms that
got Ye Xiu interested
Looks like this is the “living
quarters” that is listed in the terms. Lightly decorated but at least it is
clean so not bad. Ye Xiu was satisfied as he thought to himself while moving
the last of the many keyboards.
“That’s it, this is your living
quarters.” Seeing that Ye Qiu was done, Cheng Guo pointed from the side the low
bed in the store room.
“Ah?” Ye Xiu was taken aback, he was
imagining the place he was staying would any one of the rooms next to this. Even
if it was the sofa in the living room was ok. Here…. Ye Xiu lifted his head and
looked, this small storage room had a small window at the top of the western
wall and it was facing the street lamp outside, lighting the room and if you
turn off the light in the storage room, the window will dim out making it seem
like it is haunted.
“Oh, it is not conducive but you have

not join. The recruitment poster you saw have been placed there since a long
time ago.”

“No problem, fully charged.” Ye Xiu gave
Cheng Guo a thumbs up to say that he doing all-nighters is his strong suite.
“Good, let’s go down, I will treat
you to supper as a welcome.” Cheng Guo said.
“Oh? What do we eat?”
“At this hour there is nothing much,
across the road there should be a diner that is still open that you can check,
also buy some dishes back and I do not eat celery.” Cheng Guo said while
handing Ye Xiu 200 dollars from her pocket.
“It is snowing!” Ye Xiu said.
“It is just across the road, how heavy

Ye Xiu left in reluctance to get
supper. Just got a new job and be ordered about so much already but deep down
